A young married couple, only two years into their marriage, turned to online prostitution as a way to cope with financial hardship.
Shockingly, the husband, identified as AA, allowed his wife, DA, to work as a sex worker and entertain other men inside their home in a village in Pemali District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
Pemali Police Chief, Ipda Tri Nurhadi, said the couple’s main motive was financial pressure since neither of them had steady employment.
“They used the MiChat application to find clients, then continued negotiations via WhatsApp to settle the price,” he explained.
The money earned from prostitution was used to cover their daily expenses, as the couple also has a young child.
Payments ranged between 200,000 rupiah (RM50) and 400,000 rupiah (RM101) per session.
“The woman admitted to servicing male clients around 15 times in the bedroom of their home, while her husband waited outside with their child,” Tri Nurhadi added.
Authorities arrested the couple last Monday following complaints from the local community.
