Man Arrested In KL Over Alleged Molestation Cases After Viral Video

Date:

Police have arrested a man believed to be involved in multiple molestation incidents around the capital following a viral video that triggered public alarm.

Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, confirmed that the suspect was apprehended in front of a bank along Jalan Sungai Besi on April 7.

Authorities revealed that six police reports had been lodged in connection with the incidents, prompting investigations into offences related to outraging modesty. The suspect was subsequently remanded for four days beginning April 7 to assist in further inquiries.

He was later charged at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court on Friday, marking a significant development in the case.

Earlier, a video recorded by a passer-by showed a man allegedly molesting a woman who was riding a motorcycle, which quickly spread across social media platforms. The footage drew widespread attention and concern among the public.

The viral post also served as a warning, urging individuals — particularly women travelling alone on motorcycles or on foot — to remain vigilant against the suspect’s alleged behaviour. The incident has since sparked broader discussions on public safety, especially for women in urban areas.
