A man was reported dead after allegedly mutilating his own genitals in a disturbing incident in downtown Los Angeles, California, in the United States.
According to reports by media outlets including TMZ and New York Post, the man, believed to be in his 40s, reportedly injured himself during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident took place near the Los Angeles Convention Center, specifically at the intersection of Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard.
Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department said officers received an emergency call at approximately 3.40am local time reporting a man behaving erratically.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the man, and emergency responders later confirmed that he had died at the location.
A photographer from OnSceneTV who was present at the scene claimed the man died due to severe blood loss, although this has not been officially confirmed by police.
Images and video circulating on social media from the scene showed a white tent erected on a blood-stained sidewalk, with the victim’s clothing reportedly scattered nearby.
A witness reportedly told authorities that the man had removed his clothes and walked towards a 7-Eleven convenience store before collapsing.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the man’s actions, including whether he was under the influence of drugs or experiencing other personal issues at the time.
The victim’s identity has not been released, while the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct further investigations to determine the exact cause of death.
