A district religious officer in Jempol, Nawawi Husin, 39, tragically died last night when the Perodua Viva he was driving was crushed by a fallen tree near Kampung Dioh.
The incident occurred at 10:50 PM as Nawawi was returning home from work.
Commander of the Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Station, PBK II Razidi Samik, said the emergency call was received at 10:52 PM. “Firefighters extracted the 39-year-old man who was trapped inside the vehicle,” he said.
Medical personnel confirmed the victim was dead at the scene.
Kuala Pilah District Police Chief, Superintendent Muhamad Mustafah Hussin, stated that Nawawi was traveling alone from Jempol toward Seremban at the time of the incident.
“It is understood that the weather at the time was clear, with no rain or storm. Preliminary investigations indicate that a tree suddenly fell and struck the car while he was driving alone,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The victim’s body was taken to Hospital Tunku Ampuan Najihah (HTAN) for an autopsy.
