A 28-year-old man was found dead with stab wounds to his neck at a house in Jalan Masjid Baung Bayam here.
The victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside the bathroom by a family member at about 1pm yesterday.
Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri said a knife was also found in the victim’s hand.
“The victim’s aunt said she saw blood on the floor when she went to the bathroom and found him in a bleeding state with a knife in his hand and visible injuries to his neck,” he said in a statement.
He added that there were two stab wounds on the chin, one on the neck, and another minor wound on the abdomen.
Initial investigations found that the deceased had no history of illness but had been involved in drug abuse since last year after starting work in Johor.
Mohd Azmir said the victim, who worked in Pasir Gudang, Johor, had returned to his hometown on May 16.
Police also said no signs of struggle or criminal elements were found at the scene, and the case has been classified as sudden death for now.
The body has been sent to the Forensic Unit at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) for a post-mortem, which confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the neck.
Police have advised the public not to speculate on the case while investigations are ongoing.
