Man Found Dead in Rented Room in Sibu, Police Rule Out Foul Play

A 74-year-old man was found dead in his rented room along Jalan Channel in Sibu this morning, prompting a swift response from authorities.

According to a report by local media station, Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the police received a call at around 9am from a member of the public reporting an unconscious man at the premises. Officers and a medical team from Sibu Hospital were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, checks confirmed that the man had died at the location,” ACP Zulkipli said in a statement.

The deceased, a local resident, had been renting the room alone. Initial examination found no signs of physical injuries, and police confirmed that no criminal elements were present at the scene.

The body has been sent to the Sibu Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

For now, the case has been classified as a sudden death (SDR), with further investigations ongoing. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from speculation or spreading unverified information out of respect for the victim’s family.
