A man went on a violent rampage, allegedly attacking police officers and a patrol vehicle during an incident at a seafood restaurant in Telok Mengkuang, Selangor on Tuesday.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintenden Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said authorities received an alert at about 3.30pm from the MPV unit of Sector 4 Telok Panglima Garang regarding the disturbance.
Following the report, police were immediately dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and carry out further investigation.
Upon arrival, officers found a local man behaving aggressively while armed with a meat cleaver and a wooden stick. Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had earlier damaged various items inside the seafood restaurant located along Jalan Pandan 2, Telok Mengkuang.
Police also confirmed that the man damaged three civilian vehicles parked in the vicinity, causing further disruption and public concern.
The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly swung his weapons towards police personnel and an MPV patrol vehicle, posing a serious threat to both law enforcement officers and members of the public.
Police acted swiftly and managed to subdue and arrest the suspect at the scene.
The man was later taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for further medical examination.
The case is being investigated under Section 353 and Section 427 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 6(1) of the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act.
Authorities have urged members of the public with information on the incident to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters operations room.
Earlier, videos of the incident went viral on social media showing the man allegedly chasing and brandishing a knife at police officers at the restaurant.
