Man Hides Outside 13th-Floor Window To Avoid JAIM Khalwat Raid In Melaka

Date:

A man was found hiding outside the 13th-floor window of a condominium in Kota Laksamana in a desperate attempt to avoid a suspected khalwat (close proximity) raid by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) early yesterday morning.

The incident, which occurred at about 1.40am, came to light after JAIM enforcement officers conducted an inspection at a residential unit following a public tip-off.

According to sources, the door was initially not opened when officers arrived. A 25-year-old woman working in the private sector later allowed them to enter the unit for inspection.

The woman claimed she was alone, and an initial search of the unit and surrounding corridor did not reveal anyone else.

However, during a more thorough check outside the window using torchlights, officers discovered a shirtless man hiding beneath an air-conditioning compressor unit.

The man, aged 26 and reportedly a marketing executive, was found in a highly dangerous position as he was exposed outside the high-rise building at significant height, risking a fatal fall.

Investigations revealed that the man is married but currently in the midst of divorce proceedings, while the woman involved is single.

Both individuals reportedly admitted that they were not legally married to each other.

They were detained and brought to the JAIM office for further investigation under Section 53 of the Melaka Syariah Offences Enactment 1991 for suspected khalwat.
