A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to three months and 30 days’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to committing indecent acts at an HDB staircase involving an underage schoolgirl.
The court heard that on 13 August 2025 at about 6.15am, the man, identified as Muhammad Faisal Bin Jumahat, committed an indecent act in a public area while viewing explicit content on his mobile phone.
At the time, an 11-year-old girl was on her way to school for her Primary 6 Oral Examination when she came across the incident. Although shaken, she continued on her way as she did not want to be late.
The man allegedly noticed the girl and attempted to conceal his actions before the situation ended.
Later the same day at around 12pm, he was reported to have again viewed explicit content before returning to the staircase area and exposing himself.
The girl later encountered him once more while returning from her examination, prompting the man to flee the scene.
Disturbed by the incidents, she informed her mother, who immediately lodged a police report.
The court also heard that the accused committed the offence while on parole. He was sentenced to three months’ jail, with an additional 30 days imposed due to the breach.
