A man was killed after the van he was travelling in caught fire following a four-vehicle collision at Kampung Batu 40 Lempur, Manong, near Kuala Kangsar.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said emergency services received a call at 3.16pm, prompting firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station to rush to the scene.
The crash involved a Nissan Vanette van, a one-tonne Hino lorry, a Honda Civic and a Toyota Wish multipurpose vehicle. The impact caused the van to burst into flames.
Firefighters found one victim trapped inside the burning van, while several others had already been rescued by members of the public before emergency responders arrived.
The victim, a 32-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel. Two other passengers in the van, aged 16 and 19, sustained injuries. The lorry driver was also injured, while five occupants of the other vehicles escaped unharmed.
Rescue operations concluded at 5.55pm. The deceased was handed over to police for further investigation, while the injured victims received initial treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital.
