Man Known As ‘Ucuk’ Detained Over ‘Allah’ Graffiti At Temple In Jasin

Date:

Police have confirmed the arrest of a man known as “Ucuk” who is believed to be involved in an incident where the word “Allah” was written on the wall of a temple in Jasin yesterday afternoon. The 38-year-old suspect, who is also a former tahfiz student, was detained to assist with investigations.

Jasin district police chief Superintendent Lee Robert said the suspect, who is believed to have mental health issues, has since been released on police bail following initial investigations. The case will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.

He added that police are still gathering information related to the incident, which has raised concern among the local community. He stressed that such cases require careful assessment to ensure any action taken is fair and appropriate given the individual’s condition.

Earlier, authorities were reported to be tracking down the individual after the discovery of the words “Allah” and “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim” written on a temple located along Jalan Jeti Anjung Batu–Pantai Siring in Serkam the night before.

According to Lee Robert, preliminary information from villagers suggests that the same individual may have carried out similar acts at several other locations in the area, including scribbling the same words on roadside walls and electrical poles.
