Man Mistakes Cow For Ghost In Well, Animal Rescued By Civil Defence

Date:

A man in Kampung Sungai Tengas, Bandar Baharu, had a fright when he initially thought a moving object in a nearby well was a ghost — only to discover it was a cow.

The 31-year-old spotted the cow, believed to have fallen into the water-filled well, at around 2:30 a.m. today while heading to the toilet. He immediately contacted the Civil Defence Force (APM) for assistance.

Lieutenant (PA) Abdul Rahim Khairudin, Officer of the Bandar Baharu Civil Defence, said the team received the call at 2:40 a.m. and quickly dispatched five members to the scene.

“Using ropes, our team managed to pull the cow out of the well, an operation that took nearly 30 minutes,” he said. “The rescue was carried out carefully to avoid injuring the cow and to prevent it from panicking and struggling, which could have complicated the process.”

The cow was safely released, and the operation concluded at 4:30 a.m.
