Man Sentenced After Sharing Explicit KTV Assault Video, iPhone Confiscated

Date:

A 31-year-old man, identified as Ah Hui (alias), was sentenced for sharing an explicit video of a woman allegedly sexually assaulted with an object at a KTV while intoxicated. The court also ordered the confiscation of his iPhone 16 Pro.

According to the court ruling, Ah Hui joined a LINE group last April and came across the video circulating among members. Without the victim’s consent, he forwarded the clip to another chat group the same day, prompting complaints from other members.

Police obtained a search warrant and raided Ah Hui’s workplace, seizing the iPhone 16 Pro used to distribute the video and formally charging him. Initially, Ah Hui claimed he thought the footage was just people partying at a KTV but later admitted to the offense and reached a settlement with the victim.

The judge noted that Ah Hui’s act of distributing sexual content not only violated public morals but also caused serious harm to the victim’s reputation and privacy. While the behavior was condemnable, the court took into account that Ah Hui had no prior record, maintained stable employment, and showed remorse by compensating the victim.

Ultimately, the Taipei District Court sentenced Ah Hui to two months’ imprisonment for distributing obscene material, which can be converted to a fine, with a two-year probation period. He is also required to attend three legal education sessions. The iPhone 16 Pro and SIM card used in the offense were confiscated, and Ah Hui retains the right to appeal.
