Man Throws Dishes, Threatens Staff With Knife After Being Denied Free Food

Date:

A man in Taichung lost control at a porridge and side-dish restaurant after being denied free food, reportedly causing chaos and threatening staff with a knife.

Video and eyewitnesses showed the man wildly sweeping dishes off the counters, throwing entire plates at the cashier, and hurling utensils and stacked trays into the kitchen. Staff were too frightened to intervene as the man even stepped inside the kitchen.

One customer said, “He was chasing and attacking, just going after everyone.”

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. at a restaurant on Shijia Road in Taichung. The man, upset over being refused free meals, reportedly became enraged and violent. Fortunately, bystanders stepped in to subdue him until police arrived and took him into custody. Authorities are investigating the cause of the conflict.
