A man suspected of driving against traffic flow along Jalan Hang Tuah here on Saturday, as seen in a viral social media video, has been arrested by police.
The incident is believed to have occurred at about 12.48pm.
Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said the local man in his 30s was detained in connection with a traffic-related offence.
He added that a preliminary urine screening test found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“The man is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 186 of the Penal Code for further action,” he said in a statement tonight.
Rosdi said an application for remand will be made tomorrow, and investigations are still ongoing.
Earlier, a video showing a car driving against the flow of traffic during peak hours went viral on social media, raising safety concerns among road users.
The reckless driving forced several vehicles to slow down to avoid a possible collision.
The vehicle was later seen abruptly turning into a side road, an action that also endangered other motorists in the area.
