Man’s Bound Skeleton Found Near Golf Course, Close Friend Arrested Over RM1,000 Dispute

Date:

A gruesome discovery near a golf course in Wufeng, Taichung shocked local residents after a strong stench led to the finding of a decomposed body. The remains, mostly skeletal with the neck and legs bound, have been identified as belonging to a 49-year-old man surnamed Lee. Police suspect foul play and have arrested a 32-year-old suspect surnamed Hung — who, shockingly, was Lee’s close friend.

Investigators revealed that the two men, both from Changhua, had a falling out over a financial dispute involving just RM1,000 (about NT$10,000). Surveillance footage from September 14 showed Hung walking the streets heavily covered despite the hot weather, raising further suspicion. Witnesses also reported seeing him wandering around after the crime.

Authorities are puzzled by several inconsistencies — why the body was dumped in Taichung when both men were from Changhua, and whether a mere small debt could truly spark such violence. Even more chilling, investigators believe Hung might have returned to the crime scene to take photos.

Forensic expert Dr. Kao Ta-cheng noted that despite the body being reduced to mostly bones, the bone marrow may still hold clues about whether Lee was killed before or after being dumped. Police continue to piece together the timeline and motive as they work to uncover the full truth behind the shocking murder.
