A massive fire tore through a workshop in Seksyen 24 last night, destroying 37 cars and seven motorcycles. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 11:31pm, prompting the dispatch of 21 firefighters supported by three fire engines and a water tanker from the Shah Alam and Jelutong stations.
Upon arrival, crews found a 50 by 100 sq ft building, converted into a workshop, almost completely engulfed in flames, with around 90% of the structure destroyed.
Fortunately, no one was trapped inside. A workshop worker suffered burns on his hands while attempting to move a vehicle and was taken to the hospital by family members in stable condition.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar confirmed that the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
