The Melaka state government has called for an immediate investigation following a complaint by a motorist who claimed she was charged RM183.38 at the Batu Berendam Wholesale Market parking facility.

State EXCO Datuk Rais Yasin said preliminary checks indicate a possible error in the parking system managed by the operator under the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ).
“If the investigation confirms a system mistake, the payment will be refunded to the individual involved,” he said after officiating the Glam Bazar Ramadan Klebang 2026 alongside Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh last night.
The complaint emerged after a woman shared on social media that she was charged RM183.38 while attempting to exit the parking lot. She explained that her first attempt using her husband’s bank card showed a charge of RM2.12 before the transaction failed. Using another card, the system then displayed the RM183.38 charge, which was subsequently deducted from her account.
The woman also claimed that several other vehicles experienced similar issues and noted that such incidents had occurred previously.
Rais, who is also the Paya Rumput assemblyman, described the amount as unreasonable and assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and rectified.
