A hit-and-run accident occurred on the afternoon of the 16th at the intersection of Nanjing Road and Kaixuan Road in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung, when a car struck a middle school student riding a bicycle. The student was thrown about five meters but has been treated at the hospital and is now out of life-threatening danger. The driver fled the scene, leaving the student’s father frustrated and actively seeking surveillance footage and dashcam recordings from nearby residents to help identify the vehicle.
According to reports, the student’s father said his child was riding a bicycle through the intersection when the car hit him from the side, causing significant injuries. After the accident, he visited local homes asking for security camera footage and posted online requests for any dashcam footage capturing the incident to assist police in locating the driver.
The Fengshan Police Department confirmed that the accident was reported at 4 p.m. at the Nanjing and Kaixuan Road intersection. The middle school student, surnamed Gu, was traveling along Kaixuan Road toward Nanjing Road when the car, turning right in the same direction, collided with him. Gu suffered scrapes on his lower lip and left knee and was taken to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police have identified the vehicle involved and will summon the owner for questioning, with legal action to follow.
