Missed Calls, Unpaid Rent Lead To Grim Discovery Of Two Bodies In Setia Alam House

Date:

A quiet residential stretch in Jalan Setia Indah, Setia Alam, was shaken on Tuesday following the discovery of two decomposed bodies inside a rented double-storey terrace house. The deceased are believed to be a man and a woman, both in their 30s, who had been staying at the property for the past three months.

The distressing find was made by the woman’s father after repeated attempts to reach his daughter over the last two weeks failed. Concern grew as phone calls went unanswered and visits to the house yielded no response, prompting fears that something was amiss. Incidents such as this have raised renewed concerns among residents about welfare checks in rented properties, especially when occupants go silent for extended periods.

Speaking at the scene, the father, who declined to be identified, said he had tried calling his daughter numerous times and even went to the house on several occasions, calling out from the gate. Despite his efforts, there was no sign of activity, and items such as shoes at the entrance appeared untouched.

“I tried calling both my daughter and her boyfriend, but there was no reply. Everything looked the same each time I came,” he said, adding that he initially assumed the couple may have left without informing anyone.

The situation took a tragic turn when the landlord contacted him earlier today after rent payments had gone unpaid. The landlord, accompanied by a security guard and the woman’s father, went to the house to check on the tenants. Although the door was locked, they proceeded to open it.

Even before entering, the father said a strong, foul smell was noticeable at the entrance. “When we reached the door, there was already a stench. At that moment, I knew something was terribly wrong,” he said.

The group first checked the upper floor but found nothing unusual. However, upon opening a room on the ground floor, they were confronted with a horrifying scene. The woman’s body was found lying on a bed, while her boyfriend was discovered on the floor of the same room.

Police are expected to conduct further investigations to determine the cause and time of death. The case has drawn attention to the importance of community vigilance, as neighbours described the area as typically peaceful and uneventful prior to the discovery.
