Model Survives Brutal Assault and Fall in Dubai, Police Response Sparks Outrage

Date:

Maria Kovalchuk, a 20-year-old Ukrainian model, shocked the public after a terrifying fall incident in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She went missing for eight days in mid-March and was later found severely injured on the street, suffering spinal fractures and multiple broken limbs, fighting for her life. In a recent interview, Maria revealed that the fall happened after she refused to engage in sexual relations with a man and was then thrown from a height.

Maria said she had been invited to a private party, but the atmosphere soon turned strange. Participants began verbally harassing her and even made inappropriate physical contact. “They started mocking me, asking why I wasn’t drinking, and then there were some seemingly harmless acts like pushing my shoulder,” she recalled. The group grew more aggressive, calling Maria their “toy” and claiming they could do whatever they wanted to her. When she rejected the sexual advances of several men, she was chased, insulted, and ultimately pushed off a high place.

Although Maria emphasized that the attackers were not locals, she expressed disappointment with the Dubai police’s handling of the case. The police’s preliminary report controversially suggested that she “jumped to defend her dignity,” a claim that sparked public outrage. Maria’s mother strongly refuted this version and denied the official claim that her daughter’s fall was caused by intoxication, accusing authorities of downplaying the truth.

When Maria was found, she had fractures in her spine, arms, and legs. It was reported that Dubai police initially detained a group of young people suspected in the incident, but they were released the next day, and the case was effectively closed. Maria’s mother, Anna, said, “Now they have changed their statement, saying they were trying to help her and that she voluntarily went to the party.”
