A heartbreaking incident occurred in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, where a five-month-old baby girl tragically died after apparently slipping into the narrow gap between her mattress and bed frame during the night. The infant became trapped and suffocated, unable to free herself.
The baby’s mother, who was working a night shift, discovered the situation via a home surveillance camera and immediately tried to contact her husband, who was at home, but he was asleep and did not answer the phone. She then called a neighbor for help. By the time her husband arrived and rushed the child to a nearby hospital, doctors were unable to save her.
Rescue personnel at the scene confirmed that the infant had likely moved in her sleep and fallen into the gap between the mattress and bed frame. No signs of external injury were found, and authorities have preliminarily ruled the death an accident.
The devastated parents have urged other caregivers to ensure safe sleeping environments for infants, avoiding any gaps or spaces where children could become trapped. Police said the investigation has been completed and confirmed the bed gap as the cause of the accident, with further interviews with family members planned to gather more details.
