A motorcyclist sparked widespread debate online after a dashcam video showed him riding slowly in the fast lane of a highway, ignoring signals from a lorry driver who attempted to overtake, and even provoking the driver with obscene gestures while repeatedly blocking the lorry’s path.
The video, recently shared by a social media user, shows the motorcyclist traveling at a slow speed on the rightmost lane of the highway. Despite the lorry driver flashing indicators to signal an overtaking maneuver, the rider refused to give way and instead turned around to show a middle finger.
The footage further shows the motorcyclist deliberately maintaining a slow pace in the fast lane, causing the lorry driver to honk. In response, the rider grew more defiant—making more rude gestures and motioning for the lorry to move to the left lane, while continuing to block the path.
When the lorry eventually switched lanes to overtake, the motorcyclist followed suit, again positioning himself directly in front of the lorry while slowing down and flashing another offensive gesture.
According to a female passenger inside the lorry, the driver had repeatedly used signals to request overtaking, but the rider remained uncooperative.
“We tried to pass him, even switched lanes to avoid him, but he deliberately followed us from the right lane just to block our way,” she said.
The woman also criticized the rider for occupying the fast lane for an extended period, despite motorcycles being expected to keep to the side.
The video triggered a flood of online comments, with many users condemning the motorcyclist’s behavior and questioning his road safety awareness and etiquette.
“Can a motorcycle that slow even ride in the fast lane? Lorries are allowed to overtake too, aren’t they?” one user commented.
Another speculated, “From my experience, this rider was probably speeding earlier, and the lorry might have suddenly changed lanes.”
Several netizens urged the lorry driver to file a police report, pointing out that the rider’s license plate was visible in the video. “This is clearly obstructing other road users,” one wrote.
Others shared their own experiences, with one person recalling, “Once, while driving on the highway, a lorry suddenly swerved out—we braked hard in front and behind and almost crashed. It was infuriating, but we’d never go this far. A honk and moving on should be enough.”
Some commenters also criticized the unclear number plate on the motorcycle. “It’s so small you can’t even read it—riding recklessly while endangering others,” one person noted.
