Motorcyclist Killed After Being Thrown 10 Metres in Jalan Selandar–Nyalas Crash

Date:

A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being thrown about 10 metres into roadside undergrowth following a collision with a car along Jalan Selandar–Nyalas yesterday.

The victim died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries in the incident, which occurred at about 1.07pm.

Jasin district police chief Superintendent Lee Robert said preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding a Honda C100B from Selandar towards Nyalas when he allegedly veered into the opposite lane.

A Honda City driven by a 50-year-old man travelling in the opposite direction attempted to swerve to the right to avoid the motorcycle but was unable to prevent the collision.

The impact caused the motorcycle to be thrown to the right shoulder of the road, where it struck a utility pole and a tree, while the rider was flung approximately 10 metres from the point of impact.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was sent to the forensic unit at Jasin Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
