M’sian Axia Driver Dies Metres from Parents’ Home, Didn’t Make it Back for Mum’s Sambal Chicken

Date:

A 30-year-old man who died in a road accident last Sunday (Jan 4) was just about 300 metres from his parents’ home in Johor Jaya when the crash occurred, a detail that has deepened the grief of his family.

His father, Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim, said the accident happened only a short distance from their residence, as his son was on his way to visit them.

“The accident site is only about 300 metres from our home. We never imagined that Mohd Shahril Asyran’s intention to visit us would not be fulfilled,” he said.

Abdul Aziz, who chairs Surau Al-Taqwa, said he was heartbroken that he never had the chance to see his son after the accident, as the victim was rushed to the hospital’s red zone due to the severity of his injuries and later pronounced dead.

He added that every time Mohd Shahril Asyran returned home, his wife would make a point of cooking her son’s favourite dish, sambal chicken.

The grieving father also recalled a family gathering last month, during which his son spent time playing chess with his nephews.

Mohd Shahril Asyran, the fifth of seven siblings, had been travelling along Jalan Bakawali, Taman Johor Jaya, with his wife and their young child when the accident occurred.

He was killed at the scene, while his wife sustained fractures to her hip and thigh. Their two-year-old daughter survived the crash.
