“It was spontaneous, my own mistake,” said a woman in response to a video that went viral on social media showing her and another individual exercising while wearing baju kurung without proper skirts.
In a brief statement, the woman apologized and clarified that the event organizers were not involved and had no knowledge of the incident.
“I want to apologize for this morning’s incident involving individuals wearing hijab but without skirts.
“This morning, we were doing Zumba at Dewan Bukit Badong. The organizers had no knowledge of what happened.
“I went live spontaneously. I apologize for the mistake, and it was entirely my own fault,” she said in a video shared on social media.
Earlier, a video went viral showing two women exercising in what many deemed inappropriate attire, sparking public outrage online.
In a post shared on a Facebook group, the clip showed one woman wearing a white baju kurung resembling a school uniform without a skirt, while the other wore sheer black leggings. Both were wearing hijabs.
Netizens condemned the actions, saying they mocked Islamic teachings, and called on the authorities to take appropriate action against the individuals involved.
