A red Perodua Myvi driver has gone viral after allegedly attempting to evade toll payment by tailgating another vehicle, only to be confronted moments later by the driver who recorded the incident on dashcam.
The viral footage shows the Myvi closely following another car as both passed through a toll booth. By sticking close enough, the Myvi appeared to pass through the toll gate without making any payment.
Seconds later, the Myvi accelerated, overtook the vehicle in front and drove off.
The driver who was allegedly used to bypass the toll refused to let the incident slide. Dashcam footage showed him following the Myvi and catching up with it at a traffic light beneath a highway bridge.
At the stop, the driver rolled down his window and questioned the Myvi driver about the alleged toll evasion. The Myvi driver initially denied any wrongdoing but fell silent after being told the entire incident had been recorded on dashcam. He then drove off once the light turned green.
The clip sparked online discussion, with many netizens questioning why someone would risk legal consequences just to avoid paying a small toll fee.
Others pointed out that toll evasion is increasingly difficult, noting that modern toll plazas in Malaysia are equipped with high-definition cameras and automatic number plate recognition systems that can record vehicle plate numbers and, in some cases, even the driver’s face.
Netizens added that toll operators keep full entry and exit records, which can later be used to issue summons notices to vehicle owners.
