A man was found walking naked along Jalan Lebuh Bukit Jambul in Bayan Lepas, Penang, prompting concern among motorists and members of the public.
Timur Laut District Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Lee Swee Sake said authorities received information about the incident at around 10.40am last Thursday.
Police were dispatched to the scene to assist personnel from the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (PBSMM), who were already providing initial response at the location.
Officers found the man standing in the middle of the road without clothes, believed to be in a mentally unstable condition at the time.
He was later restrained with the help of ambulance personnel near a traffic light intersection close to a private college in the area.
The individual was subsequently transported by PBSMM ambulance to Penang Hospital, where he is currently being treated in the psychiatric ward.
Police said the man did not have any identification documents on him, and both authorities and hospital staff are working to determine his identity and locate his next of kin.
