Netizen Slams Petrol Station: Card Payment Rules Leave Drivers Fuming

Date:

A netizen recently shared a frustrating experience while refueling at a Shell Malaysia station using the Budi95 subsidy program, highlighting limitations in the company’s payment system.

According to the post, the customer had requested to fill 16 liters of petrol at the counter but was informed that card payments were not accepted there. Instead, payment by card could only be made at the pump. However, the pump system required a minimum RM200 transaction when selecting fuel by liter, creating inconvenience for those purchasing smaller amounts.

Faced with this restriction, the customer eventually paid in cash at the counter. When asked whether the issue applied only to that branch, staff allegedly replied that the same rule applied to all Shell stations nationwide.

The customer also raised concerns about BonusLink points, questioning how they would be credited if payment was made at the pump. The response given was that points could be claimed manually through the Shell app using the receipt, a process the customer described as “troublesome.”

Frustrated, the netizen remarked that they might have to switch to using the Setel app, even though they rarely refuel at Petronas. With limited petrol stations nearby, they felt forced to stick with Shell despite the inconvenience.

The post, which has since circulated on social media, sparked discussion among other motorists who shared similar experiences across different fuel brands. While some sympathized with the complaint, others reminded readers not to get too emotional, emphasizing that such posts were meant to share experiences rather than provoke negativity.
