A non-governmental organisation (NGO) chairman is expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow, according to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MACC said it has obtained consent to prosecute the NGO chairman in connection with Op Serantau.
In June last year, MACC uncovered the alleged misappropriation of about RM26 million in public donations linked to the NGO.
Sources said the case surfaced following the arrest of five individuals during Op Serantau, an operation led by the MACC’s Selangor office. Those detained included the NGO’s chairman, secretary, treasurer and finance officer.
The arrests were carried out during raids at multiple locations across Selangor, Melaka and Penang.
In a separate matter, MACC said the Shah Alam Sessions Court is also scheduled to deliver its decision in the trial of a former project director on the same day.
