Police have arrested nine individuals suspected of involvement in an armed gang fight in Lukut, Port Dickson, last Saturday.
Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested around Port Dickson, with the first apprehended within 24 hours and the remainder over the following two days. Authorities are still searching for one more suspect connected to the case.
“Some of those arrested have previous criminal records. The exact motive is under investigation under Section 326/427 of the Penal Code,” he said. Alzafny added that all four victims, who knew each other—including a child—are receiving treatment at the hospital and are reported to be stable.
In a separate case, police are investigating an explosion in Desa Palma, Nilai, on December 22, believed to involve an improvised explosive device (IED). The 62-year-old male suspect, previously treated at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital, was arrested in Batang Benar, Nilai, with burns to his face, body, hands, and feet, and remanded until January 3. The Bomb Disposal Unit confirmed the blast resulted from mishandling explosives, and the suspect is believed to have acted alone.
Meanwhile, nine people, including a woman in her 20s, were also arrested in connection with a supermarket fight in Nilai on Sunday at around 1 a.m., under investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
Alzafny also announced the formation of the Negri Sembilan Disaster Response Team, comprising one officer and four members, to strengthen emergency response capabilities. “This team allows us to provide initial assistance while waiting for main rescue units, and its membership will be expanded over time,” he said.
