The Youth and Sports Ministry has pledged firm action against a group of National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) students who were caught on video assaulting a classmate in Miri, Sarawak. The ministry said those involved will face suspension or expulsion.
“There is no room for physical violence at this institute, prank or otherwise,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to a preliminary investigation, the incident took place at 4.30pm on Sept 19 but was only reported to the institute on Sept 22.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, in a Facebook post, condemned the attack. “As a mother, I find bullying unacceptable. And as a minister, I will not compromise with violence at the youth and sports training institutes,” she wrote, adding that every student has the right to a safe learning environment.
