Amid the chaos, a woman in a black spaghetti-strap dress sprinted to the scene after hearing the station broadcast requesting medical assistance. She even bit off her artificial nail to safely clear an obstruction from the patient’s mouth, a heroic act captured by bystanders and security cameras. The video quickly went viral online, with netizens praising her as “beautiful and kind-hearted” and a “real-life angel.”
According to Taiwan’s ETtoday, the woman, Li Mengyi, is an ENT nurse from Guangdong Yuebei People’s Hospital. She had been at the station with her two young children, waiting for the last high-speed train to Suzhou. Upon hearing the emergency broadcast—“A passenger has a sudden illness, medical staff needed urgently”—she handed her bag to her children with a single line: “Wait for me!” before running toward the A4 ticket gate where the incident occurred.
Li revealed that she faced a dilemma: the emergency was at the A4 gate, requiring her to cross the entire station from A21, and she had to manage her two young children. With less than half an hour until the train’s departure, she hesitated—but ultimately chose to save the life in front of her.
At the scene, Li found the passenger collapsed on the floor, his mouth bleeding from a bite. Using her clinical experience and the patient’s rapid pulse, she quickly diagnosed him as having a seizure. To avoid injuring him further, Li removed her ring and bit off her artificial nail, freeing the obstruction in just five minutes. Her swift action helped the man regain consciousness. After handing over the patient to other staff, Li dashed back against the crowd to the ticket gate, arriving with less than two minutes to spare before boarding closed. Thankfully, her children had been safely escorted to the gate in her absence.
Reflecting on the incident, Li shared that her children told her, “Mom, you are truly amazing. You are our pride for life,” making her feel that every moment of her heroic act was worth it.
