Outrage In Phuket As Foreign Tourists Allegedly Took Off Panties While On Moving Tuk-Tuk

Date:

Authorities in Phuket are facing renewed calls to take swift action after a video allegedly showing foreign tourists behaving indecently on a moving tuk-tuk went viral on social media, sparking widespread public anger and debate over tourist conduct in Thailand’s popular resort destinations.

The incident is believed to have taken place along Patak Road in Karon Subdistrict, Phuket, as the vehicle was travelling towards Karon Roundabout. Footage circulating online shows a group of foreign women allegedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour at the rear of the tuk-tuk, reportedly in full view of other road users including motorists and pedestrians.

The clip, which has been widely shared across social platforms, has triggered strong reactions from netizens, many of whom condemned the behaviour and urged authorities to identify and take action against those involved. Some online comments called for strict penalties, including fines and deportation, reflecting growing frustration over repeated incidents involving tourist misconduct in key holiday hotspots.

In today’s digital age, viral content can spread within minutes and significantly shape public perception, particularly in tourism-dependent regions. Such incidents often place additional pressure on local authorities to balance enforcement with maintaining the country’s image as a welcoming travel destination.

Dashcam footage from a trailing vehicle is believed to have captured the episode clearly, further fuelling the controversy. However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation of any investigation or enforcement action taken against the individuals seen in the video.

Separately, the case has reignited broader discussions about tourist behaviour and enforcement of public decency laws in popular travel areas. While Phuket continues to attract millions of visitors annually, locals have increasingly voiced concerns over isolated incidents that they say risk damaging the island’s reputation.

Authorities have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter, but public pressure continues to mount for a thorough investigation and stronger deterrent measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
