A 28-year-old unemployed man in Seberang Jaya, Penang, allegedly murdered his 44-year-old wife at their apartment on Jalan Tuna, then stayed with her body for four days before confessing to police on the morning of December 11.
Following the confession, authorities returned to the apartment and discovered the victim’s body in one of the rooms, according to MalaysiaGazette. Investigators noted a slash wound on her neck, possibly caused by a sharp weapon, and preliminary signs of suffocation, reported NST.
The suspect, who has a history of criminal offences including drugs and intimidation, was brought back to the scene to assist police in their investigation.
The victim, a supermarket employee and mother of five, had been married to the suspect for two years. A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
