Two men were left shocked after discovering pig heads placed outside their house and shop in separate incidents in Negeri Sembilan early Thursday morning.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Alzafny Ahmad said investigations revealed that the incidents occurred at about 1am in Kuala Pilah and Tampin.
“Police received two reports regarding cases involving pig heads being placed in front of a house in Kuala Pilah and a shop in Pekan Tampin,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
He added that the victims in both incidents were two men who are related to each other.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the two incidents are linked and are believed to stem from a personal dispute between the victims and a suspect believed to be an illegal moneylender, commonly known as an “ah long”.
Authorities stressed that the act was not related to religious hatred or hostility towards any community.
Instead, police believe the pig heads were placed to intimidate the victims and pressure them into settling outstanding debts owed to the suspected loan shark.
According to Alzafny, the suspect is also believed to be the same individual who had previously splashed paint on the shop as a form of harassment.
Both cases are currently being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentionally insulting with the intent to provoke a breach of peace, as well as Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
If convicted, offenders may face up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Police have urged members of the public with information related to the incidents to come forward to assist with investigations.
Authorities also advised the public not to spread unverified statements or speculation that could disrupt public order or create unnecessary tension surrounding the case.
