The Royal Malaysia Police discovered the bodies of a mother and her son, believed to have been deceased for over 48 hours, inside a residence in Bedong on Monday. Kuala Muda District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan confirmed that the authorities received a report regarding the incident from a member of the public at approximately 6:05 pm. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were forced to break into the house as the premises were found to be locked from the inside, preventing immediate entry.
According to preliminary findings, the deceased individuals have been identified as a man in his 40s and his elderly mother, who was in her 70s. One of the victims was found in the living room area, while the other was located in the kitchen of the property. The advanced state of decomposition suggested that they had passed away at least two days prior to the discovery, which led to a grim scene for the responding emergency personnel and investigators.
Initial physical examinations conducted by the police at the scene did not reveal any visible injuries or wounds caused by sharp weapons or external violence. This lack of immediate evidence of foul play has shaped the early stages of the investigation as the authorities work to reconstruct the events leading up to the deaths. Forensic teams were also present to gather evidence and ensure that the site was thoroughly documented before the remains were removed.
The case has been officially classified as a sudden death report (SDR) pending the results of a comprehensive post-mortem examination. These medical procedures will be essential in determining the exact cause of death for both individuals and whether any underlying health conditions or environmental factors played a role in the tragedy. Police are currently looking into the medical history of the two victims to see if there were any pre-existing ailments that could provide further context.
Neighbours and local residents have expressed shock over the incident, as the quiet nature of the household had not initially raised any alarms until the passage of time became apparent. The bodies have been transported to the hospital mortuary for the scheduled autopsy, and further updates are expected once the forensic reports are finalised. The police continue to urge anyone with relevant information about the family’s recent activities to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiry.
