Date:

Police are searching for a 60-year-old local man believed to be behind a vehicle explosion in Desa Palma, Nilai, early this morning, during which authorities uncovered three suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect acted alone, with no links to any individual, group or organisation. He added that the case is not related to terrorism or extremist activities, according to BuletinTV3.

All explosive materials found inside the vehicle were safely detonated by the police Bomb Disposal Unit in the early hours of the day.

The suspect is believed to have fled the scene and is known to have a prior criminal record under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Police have since identified and raided a premises believed to be the suspect’s residence, where officers discovered additional explosive materials using similar methods.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the incident. Datuk Alzafny reassured the public that the situation is under control and that there is no cause for alarm.

“The community, particularly in Nilai, should not feel anxious or fearful in carrying out their daily activities, as we have confirmed the incident involved a lone individual,” he said.

Residents in Desa Palma were earlier startled by a loud explosion from a vehicle. Following the blast, police found nails scattered on the road and several nearby vehicles damaged by debris from the explosion.
