Police have confirmed they are investigating a viral video allegedly showing a bullying incident involving a group of children at Jalan Mewah, Kampung Melayu Majidee, Johor Bahru, which is believed to have occurred yesterday.
Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the authorities became aware of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording that has been widely circulated on social media. However, he noted that no police report has been lodged so far in relation to the incident.
“Preliminary investigations are underway to verify the authenticity of the viral footage and to identify the individuals involved,” he said in a statement, adding that efforts are also being made to trace potential witnesses who were present at the scene.
Raub urged the victim, family members, or anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and lodge a police report to assist with the investigation. He stressed that public cooperation is crucial to ensure appropriate action can be taken.
Earlier, a 23-second CCTV clip surfaced online, allegedly showing an incident that took place at about 12.39am. The footage is believed to involve at least four boys who were seen bullying another child.
The video has since sparked widespread outrage among social media users, many of whom have called on the authorities to take swift legal action against those responsible. The case has also reignited public concern over bullying involving minors and the need for early intervention to prevent further harm.
