Police Launch Manhunt After Remand Prisoner Escapes From Sungai Buloh Prison

Police have launched a manhunt for a remand prisoner who escaped from Sungai Buloh Prison on Thursday.

Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, said authorities received a report on the escape before immediately activating a tracking operation to locate the suspect.

“Efforts to track down the 24-year-old man, identified as Muhammad Hassan, have been intensified, including searches in nearby areas and expanded operations to trace his movements,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He added that the suspect was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black long pants at the time of his escape.

The man is facing multiple charges, including offences under Sections 377C and 392 of the Penal Code, as well as immigration-related offences. Police also urged the public to exercise caution due to the seriousness of the allegations, which reportedly involve sexual offences against children.

Members of the public with information on the suspect’s whereabouts are advised to contact investigating officers Inspector Muhendran Chandra at 010-4304383 or Inspector Azamuddin at 016-5661597. They may also reach the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters at 03-61561222 or report to the nearest police station.

Police have also reminded the public not to spread unverified information or speculation, warning that it could disrupt ongoing investigations and cause unnecessary public alarm.
