Police have received two reports involving alleged physical sexual abuse against two students with disabilities (PwD) at a male school dormitory in Marang.
Marang district police chief Supt Sofian Redzuan said the reports were lodged by a hostel warden after two separate incidents involving two 16-year-old students.
The first case, reported to have occurred on Nov 17, involved a 17-year-old student with a learning disability who was allegedly targeted in an attempted sodomy by a fellow student.
In the second incident, which took place on Nov 20, a 13-year-old student with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) was allegedly approached for sexual assault by another 16-year-old suspect.
“At this stage, no arrests have been made. We need to complete the investigation as both suspects and victims are still residing in the same hostel,” Sofian said.
Both cases are being investigated under Sections 14(b) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Sofian stressed that the incidents are highly concerning, involving both criminal acts and moral issues among students. He also urged parents and guardians to stay vigilant and monitor their children’s interactions to prevent inappropriate behaviour.
