Police Probe Viral Video of Pickup Truck With Hebrew Sticker in Melaka

Date:

Police in Melaka have launched an investigation after a viral video surfaced showing a silver pickup truck with a sticker written in Hebrew on its rear window.

Melaka police chief Datuk Zulkhairi Mukhtar said the case came to light after a special officer to the chief minister lodged a report upon seeing the 14-second clip on the social media platform Threads.

“Initial investigations revealed that the Hebrew writing translates to either ‘Malaysia is our home’ or ‘Malaysia is in our hands’,” Zulkhairi said in a statement.

Further checks showed the vehicle is registered to a man residing in Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan.

Police are probing the matter under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for causing public fear or alarm, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities.

Zulkhairi also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the video, assuring that a thorough and transparent investigation will be carried out to maintain public safety and harmony.
