Proton Wira Collides With Eight Parked Vehicles, Minor Injuries Only

Date:

An attempted overtaking manoeuvre this morning resulted in a chain-reaction crash, with a Proton Wira colliding with eight vehicles parked in front of shops. Fortunately, vendors and customers nearby were unharmed, and the driver and his mother sustained only minor injuries.

The accident occurred around 8am in front of Niu Ji Wantan Mee at Jalan Bakar Arang, involving a total of seven cars and three motorcycles.

According to reports, the green Proton Wira, driven by a Malay man with his mother as passenger, attempted to overtake a car in the fast lane by moving from the right to the left lane. The manoeuvre caused the car to strike parked vehicles, losing control and crashing into multiple cars along the roadside.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt, while his mother was not, causing her to fall onto him during the crash. Both were reported to have escaped serious injury.

Eyewitnesses described a loud bang as the vehicle smashed into parked cars over a distance of roughly 10 metres, coming to rest in front of the wantan mee shop. Some cars were heavily damaged, while others sustained minor dents.

One diner recalled that he was about to get on his motorcycle when the crash happened, narrowly avoiding injury.

Police arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
