A Singaporean man sustained injuries after reportedly falling on a rocky section while descending Gunung Datuk in Rembau yesterday morning.
Kota Fire and Rescue Station chief Senior Fire Officer II Asnizam Kamberon said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident involving a 52-year-old hiker at 10.29am.
He said the victim was part of a group of 11 hikers who had ascended the mountain, accompanied by two Negeri Sembilan Forestry Mountain Guides (MGP).
In a broader safety context, hiking-related incidents on popular trails often highlight the importance of proper supervision and careful navigation, particularly in steep and rocky terrain.
The victim is believed to have slipped at a rocky area near the summit staircase while descending, resulting in a fracture to his right arm.
Following the alert, the Operations Response Team (PKO) was deployed and trekked approximately two kilometres to reach the victim’s location on the mountain.
Rescue personnel then provided immediate assistance and carefully brought him down using a stretcher to ensure his safety during the descent.
He was later handed over to medical personnel for further treatment, while the rescue operation involving five firefighters concluded at 2.28pm.
