A robbery attempt at a bar in Malaga, Spain, took an unexpected comedic turn after staff initially believed the armed suspect was simply joking.
The incident took place at La Barraca de le Abuela, where the suspect reportedly stormed in wielding a machete and demanded money from employees.
Instead of reacting with fear, the staff burst into laughter, assuming the situation was a prank. In a surprising twist, one worker even managed to snatch the weapon, believing it to be fake.
Despite the suspect’s attempts to issue threats, employees remained calm and continued joking, fully convinced that it was a staged stunt.
Unable to carry out the robbery and visibly confused after being laughed at, the suspect eventually left the bar empty-handed.
However, the situation took a serious turn shortly after when staff realised the threat was genuine, as several other premises in the Las Lagunas area had also been targeted by the same individual.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, with staff later describing their laughter-filled reaction as an unexpected factor that may have prevented a more serious outcome.
