Sabah Landslide Horror: 11 People Trapped, Rescuers Race Against Time

Two victims who were buried in a landslide that crushed three houses at Kampung Mook on Monday have been confirmed dead.

Rescue teams successfully extricated the victims before they were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Papar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Rozlan Osman said his team has yet to obtain full details about the victims’ identities.

“The victims were confirmed dead by medical officers at the location, but their personal information has not yet been obtained. The operation was concluded at 2.25pm, but continuous monitoring is still being carried out,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the victims killed in a separate landslide incident at Kampung Cenderakasih in Kota Kinabalu has been identified.

The victim, 50-year-old Husaima Sarabani, was successfully retrieved from the debris but was pronounced dead at 12.35pm.

According to Jalan Lintas Fire and Rescue Station chief Agustavia Joe Guasi, two more victims are currently being rescued by his team.

Earlier, a house was crushed in the landslide with 11 people inside; four managed to escape unharmed while one was reported dead.
