Sarawak will see the addition of five new industrial parks and four new Anjung Usahawan projects, with a combined approved ceiling of RM139.1 million, said Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.
Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (Mintred) has been allocated RM403.25 million for the development of 15 industrial parks and 15 Anjung Usahawan initiatives.
Dr Malcolm said construction is underway for five new industrial parks located in Kuching, Sibu, and Bintulu, covering a total of 417 acres. These projects are currently at various stages, including site identification, land acquisition, design work, and tender preparation.
He noted that the ministry previously completed six industrial parks spanning 119 acres in Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu, and Miri, at a total cost of RM132.1 million. In addition, two Anjung Usahawan developments in the Kuching division were completed for RM19.2 million.
In support of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, Dr Malcolm highlighted that the upcoming Sarawak Bioindustrial Park in Kota Samarahan and the Kota Petra Green Technology Park in Kuching are expected to draw over RM14 billion in private investment and generate thousands of high-skilled jobs for the state.
