Sarawak Reaffirms Support for Non-Muslim Houses of Worship

Date:

The Sarawak government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting religious harmony and supporting the development of non-Muslim houses of worship across the state.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang said this commitment was demonstrated through the presentation of a RM120,000 grant from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to BEM Trinity Hub Church.

Lo said the allocation will be used for development and improvement works at the church, aimed at enhancing worship facilities and supporting programmes and activities for both the congregation and the surrounding community.

The statement followed the symbolic handover of the funds by Lo to church representatives during a ceremony held on Sunday.

Church members expressed their appreciation to the Sarawak government, Unifor and Lo for the contribution, saying the grant would help strengthen the church’s role as a centre for worship and community engagement.
