Security Guard Charged With Murdering Friend At Selangor Landfill Site

Date:

A security guard has been charged at the Kuala Selangor Magistrate’s Court with the murder of his friend at a landfill site in Ijok earlier this month.

KK Turairajoo, 43, nodded in understanding after the charge was read before Magistrate Mohamad Ibrahim Muhammad Ghulam.

However, no plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The accused was charged with murdering S Lachumanan, 23, at a landfill site in Ladang Tuan Mee, Ijok, within the Kuala Selangor district between 4.41pm on May 11 and 4.42am on May 14.

Earlier reports stated that the victim was discovered by family members at the scene in a severely injured and bloodied condition before being rushed to Hospital Sungai Buloh for treatment.

He later died on May 14 while receiving medical care.

Post-mortem examinations revealed the victim suffered serious injuries to the head, face and both arms caused by blunt objects and sharp weapons.

Doctors also found evidence of brain bleeding and multiple facial bone fractures.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 40 years upon conviction.

If the death sentence is not imposed, the offender may also face no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.

The court later fixed July 24 for the next mention of the case pending post-mortem and chemistry reports.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Nor Hakimi Mohamad Rosedin, while the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel.
