Selangor Police Arrest 12 Over Mischief And Criminal Intimidation In Puchong

Date:

Selangor police have arrested 12 individuals, including a woman, in connection with cases of mischief and criminal intimidation at a housing estate in Taman Kinrara last week.

The suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were apprehended between last Thursday and yesterday across Banting, Subang, and Serdang.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said seven of the suspects, including the alleged mastermind, were directly involved in the incidents. “Seven suspects remain in custody, while five others have been released on police bail. The motive was found to be dissatisfaction and hurt feelings,” he told reporters at the state police headquarters.

Five of those still in custody have prior criminal records, though all tested negative for drugs. Police are still searching for three additional suspects, whose identities have yet to be disclosed.

Investigators have seized several items believed to have been used in the attacks, including three cars — a Toyota Vios, a Honda City, and a grey Nissan Almera — as well as a Honda Wave and Yamaha Y16 motorcycle. Fourteen mobile phones, a helmet, and clothing worn during the incidents were also recovered.

The case is being investigated under Sections 427, 506, and 435 of the Penal Code, which cover mischief and criminal intimidation, offences that carry fines and imprisonment. “With these arrests, police consider the case solved,” Shazeli added.

The incidents targeted an activist known as Cikgu Chandra. In the first attack, masked men armed with parangs reportedly vandalised his home, smashing the rear window of his Perodua Viva and damaging the front iron grilles.

In a follow-up attack, another group reportedly threw a petrol bomb at the property, destroying a Suzuki Ertiga and causing further damage to the Perodua Viva and a second vehicle.
